10 November 2020

Covid-19 may have slowed things up a bit but there is still maintenance work happening within the park

Rother DC own the old railway track and the vandalised picnic table has recently been repaired and the safety railings replaced. The two sets of steps up to the path have also been repaired so that they are safer for walkers.

East Sussex CC Rights-of-way team have been keeping their paths clear and have done a temporary repair to the path south of Crowhurst where it was slipping into the river. More permanent work on this section is planned for next year. They have also replaced one of the bridges and done maintenance work on others.

Work to keep some of the permissive paths clear has been carried out by volunteers from the Friends of Combe Valley Countryside Park.

Hastings BC are soon to carry out work to construct new steps and a hand rail at the entrance to the Park leading from Abbey Drive to Lewis Avenue. Work is due to start on November 12th and the path will have to be closed for about 3 weeks while the work is carried out.

Most paths are walkable now the water level has dropped. However, many are still very muddy and a few are only really walkable in wellies.
